About Jon Turner

Sports Media Huddle was founded by Jon Turner, a sports journalist turned sports communications leader, with more than 15 years of experience working across global sport.

Jon began his career as a journalist, eventually rising to become the Deputy Sports Editor for one of Asia’s largest media companies. Over more than a decade, he has led editorial teams covering the world’s biggest events — from FIFA World Cups and Olympic Games to major continental tournaments, combat sports, motorsport, and international football leagues. His background spans writing, editing, digital strategy, newsroom leadership, and managing high-pressure content operations across multiple time zones.

In recent years, Jon transitioned into the world of sports PR and communications, where he now leads editorial strategy, media relations, messaging, and narrative development for some of the world's largest sports federations, events, and brands. 

Through Sports Media Huddle, Jon brings together everything he has learned on both sides of the industry — journalism and PR — to help aspiring professionals understand the realities of modern sports media, navigate career pathways, and access opportunities that are often hidden or difficult to reach.

Jon believes deeply in mentorship, transparency, and building the kind of resource he wished existed when he was starting out.
